AMT Publishing
Home of the book, TPU Microcoding for Beginners
"AMT Publishing was founded by Amy Dyson and Munir Bannoura
in 1999 to publish works on TPU microcoding where any other
source was void. Until this publication, TPU microcoding was
undocumented. Amy and Munir have filled the information gap."
(Well, not exactly... Just not documented recently, and not as well...)
Ash Ware
Developers of TPU Development tools, particularly a TPU simulator.
"ASH WARE Inc. offers technology products and services that
range from our TPU Simulator, which has been used by over
half the major American and European automobile and truck
manufacturers, to providing customized TPU microcode designed to
 meet specific customer requirements."

Circuit Cellar Magazine
Excellent source of embedded development information and technique. Circuit Cellar has run several articles on the TPU:

  • Jan 1999 (#102): TPU Part 1: A Coprocessor for Timing Functions by Joe DiBartolomeo
The article is not currently available on line.

  • Feb 1999 (#103): TPU Part 2: Freeing the CPU by Joe DiBartolomeo
The article is not currently available on line.

  • Mar 1999 (#104): TPU Part 3: Programming in Microcode by Joe DiBartolomeo
The article is not currently available on line.

  • Apr 1999 (#105): TPU Part 4: Scheduler and Microcoding by Joe DiBartolomeo
The article is not currently available on line.

  • Dec 1999 (#113): RC Servo Control Via TPU by Jeff Loeliger

  • Nov 2000 (#124): Simplified TPU Programming by Jeff Loeliger
The article is not currently available on line.

Note: While most of these articles are not available for download here, they may be available through the electronic edition of CCM.

You can also order back issues on CD-ROM here.

    Electro-Logic Machines
Developers of custom TPU microcode functions.
"Motorola's Time Processor Unit is a remarkably capable digital
control coprocessor. The device is being used extensively in
robotics and engine control. ELMI offers a set of commonly desired
functions and provides rapid and cost effective TPU function
     development services."

    Lauterbach
Developers of the TRACE32 Graphical TPU Debugger.
"The TPU Debugger allows debugging the TPU (Timing Processor
Unit) found on many Motorola Devices. It allows setting break
conditions on different events and single stepping the TPU microcode
while watching the internal registers of the TPU."
